Red
Herring’s Global 100 list has become a mark of distinction for identifying
promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the
first to recognize that companies such as Google, Yahoo, Skype, Netscape,
Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.
“Choosing the best out of the previous three years was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “After rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed down our list from 1,200 potential companies to 200 finalists. Trying to get it down to 100 companies was a task upon itself. The top 100 companies who were chosen should be extremely proud, the competition was difficult.”
Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated the companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration. This assessment of potential is complemented by a review of the track record and standing of startups relative to their sector peers, allowing Red Herring to see past the “buzz” and make the list an invaluable instrument of discovery and advocacy for the greatest business opportunities from around the world.
“This is a huge honor for us and shows off the hard work and quality of the entire Qoof team”, says Richard Kligman, Qoof’s founder. “While this reward recognizes the team and the powerful technology behind our platform, the real reward for us is the ROI we are bringing our clients.”
“Video Commerce is an arrow that has just been shot in the air”, states Jonathan Stefansky, Qoof’s CEO. “2010 will be a break out year for Video Commerce and Qoof has been the leading video commerce platform since we coined the term back in 2006. We look forward to releasing new technologies in the coming months which will continue our fast paced growth.

Often time companies we work with wonder whether it's really such a big deal to integrate a data feed into their videos. This is a simple but good example of not just incorporating the feed but building intelligence around how you handle specific business rules. In this case, what we do when the retail price is below the sales price (often due to a bug in the data feed) we remove the retail price line and only show the sales price.

Berlin, April 3rd, 2009 – Red Herring today
announced that Qoof Ltd. was named a
WINNER of the Red Herring 100 Europe, an award given to the top 100 private
technology companies based in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region each year.
“During
a difficult year, Red Herring still received an impressive list of submissions
from companies across the EMEA region, clearly demonstrating Europe’s role as a
major center of innovation in the global technology sector,” said Red Herring Managing
Director, Farley Duvall. “The exceptional accomplishments of European technology
startups and entrepreneurs are a testament to the rapid advancements being made
in building the European innovation ecosystem.”
Red
Herring’s lists of top private companies are an important part of the publication’s
tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and
entrepreneurs. Companies like Google, eBay, and Skype were spotted in their
early days by Red Herring editors, and touted as leaders that would change the
way we live and work.
Red
Herring’s editorial staff rigorously evaluated several hundred private
companies through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria,
including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to
research and development.
Red Herring has honored the Red Herring 100 Europe
Finalist companies at its Red Herring Europe 2009 Conference, which was held
March 31- April 2, at the Berlin Radisson Hotel. This intimate, 2 1/2 day event
will explore how European firms are leading the charge in many technology
sectors, gaining a competitive advantage, and driving entrepreneurial success
in ways that create business opportunities for challengers and incumbents
alike.
“Qoof
currently offers the most robust solution for Fortune 1000 companies looking to
increase sales with video”, says Richard Kligman, Founder and Executive
Chairman of Qoof, “In tough economic times, retailers are looking to
both increase sales and utilize the power of video to do so; for them Qoof is
the answer.”

About Qoof
Qoof provides a video commerce
solution that allows companies to monetize their video assets across multiple
distribution channels. Retailers can transform their videos from pure branding
segments into a full e-commerce experience that drives sales. You can learn more about Qoof on the
internet at www.qoof.com or follow them on Twitter at www.twitter.com/qoof.
A few weeks ago, during a webinar on video commerce, Kevin Ertell exposed some interesting ideas on the future of online retail, pointing out to the emergence of distributed shopping. Kevin told the story of how Tower Records was making significant money selling CDs and music products at local concerts - from a simple table stand with just a couple of employees. He then drew a parallel with the online world, outlining his vision for decentralized shopping experiences where users can browse and buy products from their community site via widgets.
In the context of video, Qoof is certainly an interesting implementation of a shopping widget. Both a video production and technology company based in Los Angeles (CA) Qoof actually goes as far as defining its widget as “a video commerce platform”, since video is at the core of the solution. Arguably, the Qoof widget features some unique communication tools (Instant messaging and Skype) which enable real-time communications with an actual sales person. You can see the widget in action on the Paragon Sports homepage:
