Qoof chosen as one of the top 20 hottest Start-ups in Israel for the first ever SeedCamp Tel-Aviv

Qoof is happy to have been chosen by SeedCamp as one of the top 20 hottest start-ups in Israel and will be presenting at the first Mini SeedCamp Tel-Aviv on January 29th, 09. We are very excited to have been chosen and the ability to present our company to the European community. You can find details of the program HERE.

Yay! Our Mashable Open Web Awards Award Arrived

A few weeks ago Qoof won the Open Web Award in the "Embeddable Widgets" category! Just the fact that thousands of Qoof fans voted for us and that we bear out two larger companies in the final round was enough, but we just got our official award! Thanks Mashable and thanks to everyone that voted for us and thanks to my Mom who had her and her Mahjong group vote everyday!

Qoof makes it to top 9 in Under the Radar Challenge

Qoof, the Video Commerce company, makes it to the top 9 in the Under the Radar challenge on VenCorps. 

The Under the Radar Challenge, hosted by Dealmaker Media, features the top 9 startups competing for an initial $50,000 investment. The winner will be empowered to grow and build their company.

 
We are up against 8 other pretty interesting companies, but we have our army boots on!

Qoof moving day! - Today we are moving to our new deluxe duplex office suite!

Today is moving day! After 15 months in our last location we are today moving to new office space. In the picture you can see the moving truck and a picture of Qoof Park in the background. We are excited about our new larger, cleaner office space with a huge fridge (very important), but in a way we are going to miss the bright pink room from the old office space.

Qoof makes it to top 5 at TWS2008

More then 90 web 2.0 companies applied and were judged by an All-Star panel that included Guy Kawasaki, Om Malik, Pete Cashmore, Jeff Clavier, Kfir Pravda, and Chris Brogan to name a few.

But at the end of the day only 10 companies would be selected to present at TWS 2008. Qoof was thrilled to make it to the top 10, but we also found out that we made it to the top 5! Considering the competition we were up against and the quality of the judges, this was truly a big honor!
The event was awesome! We really had a great time and our presentation was by far the most memorable. (Don't believe us? The videos of the presentations are suppose to be posted soon at www.tws2008.com so you tell us!) Om Malik was the Key Note Speaker and Yossi Vardi was entertaining as always. We met with a lot of great potential investors and partners and the sushi wasn't so bad either.

Qoof Reaches Top 4 at Silicom Ventures Israel Summit

Qoof was chosen as one of 33 companies that presented at the SilicomVentures International Summit held in Israel. Out of the 33 companies, Qoof was 1 of 4 chosen for the final round. What makes this feat more outstanding is that 90% of the companies presenting were either bio-tech or Clean Tech and Qoof was the only one of the 4 that was web 2.0 based. But we went into the final round with our heads held high knowing that we were going up against insumountable odds (just the way we like it) and we put on a great show. And we should have won! But the 4 judges who represented VC firms in the US and Israel all were clean tech and bio tech investors and so in the end a company that "blows wind" won. No, we are not bitter :)

Great Time at MashBash Tel-Aviv

We had a great time at the first ever MashBash Tel-Aviv event last night! Being a long time Mashable Fan and reader from when Pete first got started, it was greate being associated with them. Adam and his crew were great to work with and we look forward to the next event in Israel soon!

Kara Nortman - Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions, IAC
Nortman is Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions for IAC/InterActiveCorp. In this role, she is responsible for identifying, recommending and executing corporate mergers, acquisitions, investments and divestitures, as well as executing cross-company business development projects. Previously, Ms. Nortman worked for Battery Ventures from 1999 to 2002 and again from 2004 to 2006. During that time, Ms. Nortman focused on investments in the Internet, communications and new media sectors. She was previously involved with The NewsMarket, Spot Runner, The Loan Page (acquired by HouseValues), EnvoyWorldWide (acquired by PAR3 Communications), Kashya (acquired by EMC), and Cbeyond Communications (Nasdaq: CBEY).

Ms. Nortman has held a position in Microsoft’s corporate development group, where she evaluated product strategies in the gaming, healthcare and mobile markets. She has also worked in the Private Equity Group at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter where she analyzed investment opportunities in telecommunications for a $1.9 billion private equity fund. Ms. Nortman holds an AB in political science from Princeton University and an MBA from Stanford University

Sara Levinson joins Qoof's advisory board

We are super excited to announce that Sara Levinson has joined Qoof's advisory board.

Currently, Ms Levinson serves on the boards of Harley Davidson, Inc; Macys, Inc and KickApps.

Ms. Levinson was the Non Executive Chairman of ClubMom,inc an internet-based consumer relationship company.  Ms. Levinson previously served as President of the Women's Group of Rodale, Inc. the world's leading publisher of information on healthy, active liefesyles; as Chairman and CEO of ClubMom, Inc.; as President of NFL Properties, Inc. a licensing, sponsorship and marketing arm of the National Football League; and as President and Business Director of MTV:Music Television.
