It's always great when your company is mentioned in an article, especially by a mainstream blog like VentureBeat. VentureBeat was covering an article on Overlay.tv and their recent raise of $4.6 Million. When talking about video commerce, they couldn't help but say this about Qoof:
And there’s Qoof, which focuses
purely on publishers inserting sales information into videos. So for
instance, a snowboard retailer could have one of its salespeople
explain how to use snowboards, while inserted info in the video shows
how to buy them, how much they cost, and how they compare with other
snowboards (see demo currently on bottom of Qoof’s home page).
Also mentioned in the article are fellow video companies including VideoClix & BubblePLY. Always great to be mentioned in such great company.
We are so excited about coming in First Place in the Open Web Awards! We came in first in the embeddable widgets category running as the Underdog against two large and well known widget companies Sprout (who was the runner-up) and Clearspring.
We want to thank everyone that took the time to vote for us, but I really want to thank the entire Qoof Team for making this possible and for creating the game changing video commerce widget that is changing online retail advertising in a huge way! Your dedication to the company, the long hours (with not so much chocolate) is greatly appreciated and may this be the continuation of great things still to come!
We had to go through 3 tough rounds of voting. First round got us into the top 10. The next round so Qoof stay in the game in the top 3, but in the final round there could only be 1 winner! Thank you to Mashable and to all of their sponsors for making this happen!
Mazel Tov to Dror, one of our leading programmers, and to his wife Debra on the birth of a baby boy! As in the past, we make an offer to all our employees that if they name their child "Qoof" they will get a cash reward! So Dror & Debra, I want you both to think real hard about it. If you name your new Son "Qoof", we will give you $3000.00. If you make his middle name Qoof, we will give you $1000.00!
One of things Qoof prides itself on is being first to market with it's video commerce platform. Qoof was the first to release UsermercialsTM , user generated commercials about products they like linked to the products purchase page with their affiliate link. Qoof was also the first to market with a video solution for the multi-billion dollar affiliate industry. Qoof's video commerce all in 1 platform is also the first full video commerce solution for retailers online. Does it really matter? Heck yeah it does! :)
What got us thinking about this is a blog post from Seth Godin called "Set The Agenda By Showing Up first". It's not the first time we have read about what being first to market means, but Seth has an elequent way of getting his point across in an easy to read manner. In part:
"First competent mover advantage is real. The first person with a great
product or story that matches the market establishes the narrative,
sets the bar and forces followers to conform to her specs. If you've
got the good stuff, going first means you've set a standard... the
consumer now has to abandon you to choose someone else, which means
pain and admitting an error. People hate to do that. (Evidence: Pownce)."
Qoof has successfully made it through two rounds and is now
in the final round in the Embeddable Widgets Category in Mashable’s Open Web
Awards.
We are up against two great competitors and we seem to be
the Underdog. The good thing is that the web LOVES an underdog!
But we don’t want your vote just because we have a cool name
and logo. We don’t want your vote just because we are the underdog and have
just 10% of the Staff and Funding of the competitors. We want to take a shot at
actually earning your vote by telling you a bit about our video commerce widget
and why we feel we are worthy of your valuable vote.
Qoof was the first to introduce a video solution for the
Affiliate Industry. Now affiliates can use the power of video to increase their
commissions instead of just text and banner ads.

She makes a lot of great points and since we are looking into the VC route it's great news for Qoof. One of the points she makes is:
But here's the rub: Investors intend to scrutinize business plans more
closely. They want proof that a business can generate revenue, and they
expect their portfolio companies to deliver timetables for
profitability.
That's also good news for Qoof since we are generating revenue and have a real business model that is not based on online advertising.
